CARSON-NEWMAN WOMEN’S SOCCER EDGES NO. 23 TUSCULUM, 1-0


GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Carson-Newman College (9-2, 1-1 SAC) women's soccer team defeated No.23 Tusculum College (7-4, 1-2 SAC) 1-0 in South Atlantic Conference action at Pioneer Field Wednesday night.

After a scoreless first half, Katie Peria scored her first goal of the season with a pass from Jessie Stephens at the 54:20 mark.

Pioneer freshman Courtney Turner had a chance to knock in the equalizer on a breakaway late in the match but her shot sailed wide.

The Lady Eagles out-shot TC by a 15-9 margin. Freshman goalie Tori Hadjopoulos had eight saves for the Pioneers while C-N's Nyssa Griffin had four saves.

The Pioneers will look to rebound Saturday night when they host Newberry College at 6 p.m.
