Tusculum College sophomore midfielder Madison Malone has been
selected to the South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse
Championship All-Tournament Team after helping the Pioneers to the
semifinal round.
Malone scored a goal and had four assists as the Pioneers defeated
Brevard 15-8 Tuesday in the quarterfinal round before falling to
eventual champion Queens University of Charlotte 21-6 in the
semifinals on Friday.
The Maple Grove, Minnesota native had a goal and three assists in
the win over Brevard, then registered one assist against Queens.
She also totaled two ground balls, four draw controls and four
caused turnovers during the two games.
Malone, a first-team All-SAC selection, finished the season as the
SAC and Tusculum single-season record holder with 46 assists.
Malone led the Pioneers with 66 points and was sixth on the team
with 20 goals, and also set school single-season records with 33
caused turnovers and 64 draw controls.
Malone, who was second on the team with 41 ground balls, set a
program single-game record with eight assists against Lincoln
Memorial on March 30. She also became the second player in program
history to reach 100 career points against Coker on April 9.
The Pioneers finished in fourth place in the SAC with a 4-4
conference record and went 11-6 overall this season. In two seasons
as a varsity program, the Pioneers have collected 21 overall
victories and won nine conference games.
