Tusculum College will host Brevard College Tuesday at 5 p.m. in
a South Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament
quarterfinal game at Pioneer Field.
The Pioneers finished 10-5 overall and tied for fourth place in the
conference standings with Brevard and Catawba at 4-4 in league
play, but earned the number-four seed based on the conference
tiebreaker policy. Tusculum has hosted a SAC quarterfinal game in
both seasons of the program's existence, having earned the
number-three seed in last year's field.
The Tornados (9-6, 4-4 SAC) qualified for the conference tournament
for the first time in the program's three-year history. Tusculum
defeated Brevard 20-9 in the team's regular-season meeting on March
5 at Brevard.
Tuesday's winner will face top-seeded Queens University of
Charlotte in a semifinal contest on Friday at 4 p.m. The
championship game will be played on Saturday at 2 p.m., with Queens
hosting both the semifinal and championship rounds.
Ticket prices for Tuesday's SAC Tournament quarterfinal are $6 for
adults, $3 for children under 13 and $2 for students with a college
ID. The Tusculum athletic department will be providing the
admission charge for all Tusculum students, but they must show a
valid TC ID to be admitted. No other passes or rates will be
honored for admission to Tuesday's game.
Queens won its third SAC championship in as many years by
completing a perfect 8-0 record in conference games, giving the
Royals the top seed in the tournament. Lenoir-Rhyne University is
the number-two seed, and will play the winner of Tuesday's other
quarterfinal matchup in the semifinal round on Friday.
The other quarterfinal on Tuesday will be played on the campus of
Wingate University, as the third-seeded Bulldogs host sixth-seeded
Catawba.
