ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The South Atlantic
Conference has announced that Tusculum College has swept the SAC
AstroTurf Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honors for the week
ending February 7.
Senior attack Kelsey Crow was named the SAC Offensive Player of the
Week while sophomore midfielder Rachel Del Duca was honored as the
SAC Defensive Player of the Week after the Pioneers defeated
Erskine College 19-3 in their season opener on Saturday.
Crow finished with five goals and two assists to earn SAC Player of
the Week honors for the third time in her career (two Offense, one
Defense). The Franklin, Tennessee native had four goals and an
assist in the first half to help the Pioneers build an 11-1 lead at
the half.
Crow, who scored on five of her six shot attempts, also had five
ground balls, two draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers for
the Pioneers in the victory.
Del Duca earned SAC Player of the Week honors after causing four
turnovers and picking up six ground balls against Erskine. The
native of New Providence, New Jersey also had three goals and an
assist on offense for the Pioneers in the victory.
Del Duca's efforts helped the Pioneers hold Erskine to 14 shots
while creating 24 turnovers in the victory. The award is the first
SAC Player of the Week honor for Del Duca in her career.
The Pioneers (1-0) return to action on Saturday as they face
Shorter University.
