Women's lacrosse inks seven commitments

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College women's lacrosse coach Jenna Handshoe has announced that seven student-athletes have committed to attend Tusculum and play lacrosse for the Pioneers.

Joining the Tusculum program next fall are Karlee Stinson, Juliette Cusano, Hailey Sanders, Linden Perkins, Kaitlyn Moore and twin sisters Bailey Lowery and Brittany Lowery.

Stinson, a 5-8 attack from Salem, Virginia, is completing her final prep campaign at Fort Mill High School in South Carolina. Last season at Fort Mill, Stinson led her team with 39 goals and 16 assists for her 56 total points. She also led the team with 24 draw controls and 34 ground balls as Fort Mill advanced to the South Carolina State Playoffs. She was her team's most valuable player while also serving as team captain. Stinson earned All-State second team honors as a sophomore at Wando High School in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina as her team finished second in the state. She also played at Salem High School in Virginia.

Sanders, a 5-7 defender/midfielder, is a three-sport student-athlete at Metrolina Christian Academy where she has competed the last two seasons in lacrosse, track & field and competition cheerleading. She played her first two years at Weddington High School. The Weddington, North Carolina product is a nationally-ranked player who played for Team USA U18 in the IFL World Game in Scotland this past season. Sanders was ranked 21st in North Carolina by MaxPreps and was a two-time All-Conference selection at Weddington in 2013 and 2014. She has also played with the Midwestern Force Elite Club for the past four years.

Cusano, a 5-11 attack/midfield from Southwest Ranches, Florida, led West Broward High School to back-to-back District titles, while her 2015 squad advanced to the second round of the State Playoffs. She garnered All-District, All-County and All-Region honors while scoring 62 goals and led the county in draw controls. Last year, she accounted for 61 goals and won 65 percent of her draw controls.

Moore, a 5-9 attack/midfield from Alpharetta, Georgia, was last year's team MVP at Chattahoochee High School. She scored 50 goals on 72 shots last season, while also tallying 20 assists, 25 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers. She has led her prep team to a pair of Area championships, two trips to the State quarterfinals, including last year's trip to the Georgia Final Four. Her 2015 squad also won the Eaglefest Tournament championship. She is an All-Academic athletes and was nominated for Team Georgia.

Perkins, a 5-9 defender from Plover, Wisconsin, is currently attending Hardin Valley Academy in Knoxville, Tennessee, where her team advanced to the State Playoffs in 2013. She also played for the Knoxville Cheetahs during her freshman and sophomore years.

Brittany Lowery, a 5-8 midfielder from Seymour, Tennessee was a two-time All-Region while recording 25 goals, 25 assists, 29 ground balls and 31 draw controls last year. Brittany served as team captain of a squad that posted a 22-6 record, won the East 2 Region title, advanced to the State Sweet 16 and ended the season with a No. 12 state ranking. In her 51 career games, she has amassed 42 goals, 36 assists, 53 ground balls and 110 draw controls.

Bailey Lowery, a 5-8 attack served as Seymour's defensive captain from 2013-2015, before moving up front this year. In her 51 career games, she has tallied four goals, two assists and 62 ground balls.

The Pioneers finished its inaugural campaign with a 10-5 overall record and a .667 win percentage, which was 24th nationally and second in the South Atlantic Conference. TC had the best record among all first-year programs in NCAA Division DII and had four players selected to the All-SAC team.
