Pioneers in 10th after day one of SAC Championship

SALISBURY, N.C. --- The Tusculum University women's golf team posted a team score of 327 and are in 10th place after the first round of the 2024 South Atlantic Conference Championship, which is being held at the Country Club of Salisbury.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Catawba College and held on the par-71, 5,896-yard layout.

Two-time defending champion Anderson University carded an opening day 289 to take the first round lead over Catawba and Wingate University who are tied for second place at 302. The Trojans, who are seventh-ranked in NCAA Division II, have four players in the top-seven including first round leader Kennedy Gooding who posted an even par 71.

Tusculum sophomore Reagan Padilla was the low Pioneer on the day as she fired a 77 and is tied for 19th place. Anna Ahonen and Adrienne O'Brien each carded scores of 80 and are tied for 32nd place. Lindsay Self shot 90 and is 57th while Emilie Bergh-Jacobsen posted a 91 and is 59th.

Lincoln Memorial is in fourth place with 304, followed by Carson-Newman (308), Newberry (310), Limestone (311), Lenoir-Rhyne (315), Emory & Henry (326), Tusculum (327), Coker (328), UVA Wise (356) and Mars Hill (359).

The second round will be held on Monday with Tusculum's set of tee times starting at 9:15 a.m.
