Padilla first, Pioneers second after day one of King Invitational

BRISTOL, Tenn. --- Tusculum University's Reagan Padilla shot a 73 and has the first round lead of the King University Invitational, which is being held at the Golf Club of Bristol.

Padilla's two-over par 73 has the Pioneers in second place in the team competition with a team total of 314, six shots behind day one leader Converse (308).

North Greenville is third with 316, followed by Emory & Henry (318), Belmont Abbey (322), Trevecca Nazarene (322), King (323), Barton (332), Young Harris (333) and Maryville (354).

Padilla has a one shot lead over the quartet of Connor Johnson (Young Harris), Nicole Kramer (74), Lizzie Madden (Converse) and Lucy Wiegert (Young Harris). Padilla's 73 matches her career low, that coming in the final round of the South Atlantic Conference Championship last April.

Tusculum's Emilie Bergh-Jacobsen is in a four-way tie for 10th following her 78, while Lindsay Self carded a career-best 80 and is tied for 19th place. TU newcomer Anna Ahonen is tied for 31st with 83, while Adrienne O'Brien shot 91 and is in 45th place.

The final round will be held Tuesday on the par-71, 5,852-yard layout of the Golf Club of Bristol.
