HARTSVILLE, S.C. --- The Tusculum University women's golf team opened with a score of 320 and are in 10^th place following the first round of the 2022 South Atlantic Conference Championship, which is being held at the par-72, 5,896-yard Hartsville Country Club. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Coker University.

The Pioneers are 24 strokes behind first round leader Anderson University who posted a team score of 296. Limestone University is second with 299, followed by Wingate University (303), Lincoln Memorial University (307) and Carson-Newman University (310) to comprise the top-10.

Catawba College is sixth with 315, Newberry College is seventh with 317, while Queens University of Charlotte and host Coker each fired 318 and are tied for eighth place. Tusculum is 10^th with 320, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne University (321), Mars Hill University (343) and UVA Wise (365).

Limestone's Taylor Oberparleiter is the 18-hole individual leader after her two-under par 70. The Anderson duo of Kennedy McGaha (71) and Jessica Rathbone (72) are second and third, respectively, while LMU's Rachel Mathieson and Wingate's Maddison Gorman are tied for fourth place with 73.

Tusculum junior Sofie Lorentzen led the way for the Pioneers as she posted a 79 and is in 27^th place. Lorentzen bogeyed the first hole but shot one-under par for her next four including a birdie on No. 5. She bogeyed seven of the next eight, but closed out strong with five straight pars to card her sixth consecutive round in the 70s.

Sophomore Nilubol Panno and redshirt Braelyn Pippin are tied for 33rd place after opening the SAC Championship with rounds of 80. Seniors Olivia Cunningham and Hannah Brown shot 81 and 82, respectively to round out the Tusculum scoring.

The Pioneers are scheduled to tee off Monday starting at 9:15 a.m. and will be paired with Lenoir-Rhyne's starting five for the second round of the SAC Championship. The tournament will wrap up with Tuesday's final round.
