Rattana, Tomassoni, Pioneers lead after day one of Etowah Intercollegiate

ETOWAH, N.C. --- The Tusculum College duo of Ciara Rattana and Katie Tomassoni each carded opening rounds of 76 and share the first day lead at the Etowah Intercollegiate, which is being hosted by Brevard College women's golf team at the Etowah Valley Golf Resort.  The Pioneers fired a team score of 311 and lead by 11 shots after the first round.

Tusculum holds the double-digit stroke lead over second place King who shot 322 on Monday.  Belmont Abbey is third with 323, followed by Barton (338) and Christian Brothers (370).

Rattana and Tomassoni share a one stroke lead over Fiona Hebbel of King who is in sole possession of third place with 77.

Sophomore Cydney Murrell is tied for fourth place after carding an opening round 78.  Senior Taylor Lambertsen fired an 81 and is tied for seventh place, while sophomore Taylor White rounded out the team scoring with her 82 and is in 10th place.  Sophomore Kelsey Haun shot 90 (T23rd) and is playing as an individual competitor.

The final round of the two-day, 36-hole event will be played on Tuesday.
