Tusculum in eighth place after opening day of SAC Championship

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team shot a day one score of 343 and is in eighth place following the opening round of the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Championship. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the Sevierville Golf Club - River Course.

Tusculum rookie Ciara Rattana, the SAC Freshman of the Year, carded an 82 and is tied for 17th place. The TC duo of Calley Lawson and Taylor Lambertsen each shot 86 and are tied for 32nd place. Alec Cunningham and Kelly Horrell both tied for 42nd position with identical rounds of 89.

Newberry College has the first day lead with 310, six shots in front of Wingate University who tallied 316. Carson-Newman University is third with 317, followed by Lincoln Memorial University (320), Queens University of Charlotte (322), Catawba College (333), Coker College (339), Tusculum, Anderson University (353), Mars Hill University (357) and Lenoir-Rhyne University (361).

Newberry's Karly Mims and Grace Glaze of Queens are tied for the first day lead with two-over par 74.

The second round will be held on Monday, followed by the SAC Championship final round on Tuesday.
