Rattana named SAC Women's Golf Freshman of the Year

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College women's golfer Ciara Rattana has been named the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year announced league officials Thursday.

Rattana, a native of Western Springs, Illinois, was also selected to the All-SAC first team and leads the Pioneers with her 78.25 stroke average, which is the fourth lowest in school history and the second lowest by a TC freshman.

The Lyons Township High School graduate becomes the third Tusculum rookie to garner SAC Freshman of the Year accolades, joining Amanda Bowen (2004) and Emee Herbert. TC's three SAC Freshman of the Year winners are the third most in conference history.

She recorded a runner-up finish at the Pioneer Classic, to go along with three top-10 finishes and six top-20 performances in her nine events this season. She notched nine of her 16 rounds in the 70's on the year. Her lowest round of the year was a 74, both at the Tusculum Fall Classic and the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate.

Rattana finished runner-up at the inaugural Pioneer Classic, held at Nolichucky Golf Course in Greeneville. She also finished ninth at the Converse Spring Invitational and tied for 10th at the Tusculum Fall Classic, which was contested at Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville.

The 2015 South Atlantic Conference Women's Golf Championship is slated for this Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at the Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tennessee.
