Tusculum in 14th place at Wingate Intercollegiate Challenge

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- Tusculum College freshman fired an opening round 82 and is tied for 22nd place following Monday's opening round of the Wingate University Intercollegiate Challenge. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at the Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation.

The Pioneers posted a first day score of 353 and are in 14th place.

King University carded a team score of 317 and has the first round lead. Limestone College is second with 318, followed by Newberry College (321), USC Beaufort (323), Converse College (329), Queens University of Charlotte (330), Lincoln Memorial University (332), Carson-Newman University (334) and Wingate (336).

Pfeiffer University is 11th with 338, followed by Coker College (339), Belmont Abbey College (343), Tusculum, Lenoir-Rhyne University (355) and Mars Hill University (375).

Tusculum's Taylor Lambertsen and Calley Lawson are tied for 69th place following their rounds of 90. Kelly Horrell is 74th following her 95, while Lindsay Butler is 87th after shooting 100. Blythe Scrivner shot 95 and is tied for 80th playing as an individual competitor.

The final round of the tournament will be played on Tuesday.
