KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team fired an opening day 337 and is in 14th place at the 13th annual TC/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at Cougar Point Golf Club.

TC rookie Ciara Rattana shot 79 and is tied for 25th place in the race for the individual title. Alec Cunningham is tied for 59th place with 84, while freshman Blythe Scrivner posted an 85 and is in 62nd. The TC duo of Calley Lawson and Taylor Lambertsen are tied for 71st with 89 to round out the TC scoring. Tusculum's Kelly Horrell and Lindsay Butler posted rounds of 90 and 91, respectively as individual competitors.

Florida Southern is the first round leader as the Lady Mocs carded a team score of 297. FSC leads second place Limestone by one shot (298). Northwood (Fla.) is third with 299, followed by Montevallo (305), Armstrong (308), Carson-Newman (315), Newberry (316), UNC Pembroke and Wingate (320). West Alabama and Converse are tied for 10th place at 323, followed by Belmont Abbey (331), Lincoln Memorial (334), Tusculum and Anderson (343).

Northwood's Elsa Westin is the first round leader with a two-under par 70 and leads by a shot over Florida Southern's Emily Rymer and the Limestone duo of Hannah Luckett and Brittany LaPadula who each fired 71 (-1). The trio of Elizabeth England (Carson-Newman), Kit Creighton (Florida Southern) and Arin Eddy (Montevallo) are two shots behind Westin at 72 and are tied for fifth place.

Florida Southern is vying for its fourth Tusculum/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate championship. The Lady Mocs won this event in 2008, 2009 and 2011.
