WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --- Tusculum College
women's golf student-athlete Calley Lawson has been named to the
Capital One NCAA Division II Academic All-District 3 Women's
At-Large Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America
(CoSIDA) announced Thursday.
Lawson advances to the Academic All-America® ballot, which will
be announced next month. Women's at-large sports include: bowling,
crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey,
lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis and water polo.
Lawson, a sophomore from Gaithersburg, Maryland, has a 4.00
cumulative grade point average while majoring in special education
and early elementary education.
Lawson played in all 10 events this year for the Pioneers where she
posted an 88.24 scoring average and recorded a pair of top-30
finishes. She tied for 23rd place at the Agnes McAmis Memorial and
finished 30th at the Tusculum Fall Classic.
Earlier this month, she was the 2013-14 recipient of the Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Award, which goes to the Tusculum student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average. Lawson is a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, Tusculum Dean's List, Tusculum President's List and the Charles Oliver Gray Honors List.
Lawson was named to the 2012-13 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholar Team, while also earning the Tusculum Freshman of the Year Academic Award.
Members of the Capital One Academic All-District 3 Team are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), which includes all colleges and universities in the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and Peach Belt Conference.
The Capital One Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2013-14 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
