Tusculum third, Lambertsen sixth at Food Lion SAC Women's golf championship

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team fired a first day score of 334 and is in third place at the 2014 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship. The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being held at the Sevierville Golf Club - Highlands Course.

Tusculum freshman Taylor Lambertsen led the charge with an opening round 80 and is tied for sixth place. All-SAC second team selection Sara Howard is tied for ninth place following her 82. Sophomore Calley Lawson is tied for 20th place with 85, while rookie Lindsay Butler finished with 87 and is tied for 26th place. Sophomore Kelly Horrell is tied for 48th place with 94. TC junior Alec Cunningham shot 90 and is in 36th place, playing as an individual competitor.

Wingate University leads the tournament field with its opening round 325. SAC newcomer Coker College is second with 330. Tusculum is third, while Carson-Newman University is fourth with 339. There is a three-way tie for fifth place with Queens University of Charlotte, Catawba College and Newberry College. Lincoln Memorial is eighth with 340, followed by Anderson University (369), Mars Hill (374) and Lenoir-Rhyne (379) to round out the team scoring.

The second round will be played on Monday beginning at 8:30 a.m.
