GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Two-time defending
champion Tusculum College will host the 17th annual Agnes McAmis
Memorial Women's Golf Invitational, this Monday and Tuesday at Link
Hills Country Club.
This year's tournament field consists of teams and players
representing 15 institutions from four different states including
Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Nine
schools represented will be competing in the upcoming Food Lion
South Atlantic Conference Championship, which will be held Apr.
13-15 in Sevierville, Tenn.
Joining Tusculum at this year's McAmis Memorial are fellow SAC
members Anderson University, Brevard College, Carson-Newman
University, Catawba College, Lenoir-Rhyne University, Lincoln
Memorial University, Mars Hill University and Wingate
University.
The field also includes NCAA Division II squads Converse College,
King University, Lee University, North Greenville University and
Shorter University. Spartanburg Methodist College rounds out the
15-team field.
Tusculum won last year's Memorial with a team score of 615, edging out runner-up Lander University.
Last year marked the fifth time the Pioneers have won the McAmis
Memorial and second year in a row. TC has won the title in 1998,
1999, 2000, 2012 and 2013. Lincoln Memorial won the 2001 event,
while Lenoir-Rhyne was the 2002 champion.
The opening round starts Monday morning at 11 a.m. on the
5,832-yard, par 72 layout. Admission to the two-day, 36-hole
tournament is free and open to the public.
