Tusculum ninth, Howard 10th after day one of TSYS Collegiate

COLUMBUS, Ga. --- Tusculum's Sara Howard posted back-to-back rounds of 80 to shoot 160 and is tied for 10th place at the TSYS Collegiate, held at the Country Club of Columbus.

The Pioneers are in ninth place after posting rounds of 350 and 352 for their team total 702.

Lander has the opening day lead with a two-round total 627, three strokes better than Montevallo and Lee University, who are tied for second place with 630. Host Columbus State is fourth with 660, followed by West Alabama (662), North Greenville (681), King (688), North Georgia (689) and Tusculum.

Howard is 11 shots behind day one leader Courtney Shelton of Lee University, who posted 78-71=149.

TC rookie Taylor Lambertsen posted a pair of 85s for a 36-hole tally of 170 and is tied for 23rd place. Sophomore Calley Lawson is 42nd with 96-88=184, while freshman Alex Valeri (92-99=191, 46th) and sophomore Kelly Horrell (93-99=192, 47th) round out the team scoring for Tusculum. TC freshman Lindsay Butler, playing as an individual competitor, is in 43rd place with 92-93=185.

The final round of the two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on Tuesday on the par 72, 5,821-yard layout.
