KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. --- The Barry University women's golf team led wire-to-wire to capture the title at the 12th annual Tusculum College/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate. The two-day, 36-hole tournament was held at the Cougar Point Golf Club.

The Buccaneers, who are the No. 2 ranked team in NCAA Division II shot a two-day score of 297-300=597 to win by four shots over runner and eighth-ranked Florida Tech (601).

Sofia Molinaro of the Savannah College of Art and Design tied a tournament record by firing a five-under par 67 on Sunday to post 145 for the tournament. Molinaro was tied with Florida Tech's Johanna Larsson, but won medalist honors via a playoff. It marks the fourth time in the last five years that the individual champion at this event has been decided by a playoff.

Molinaro's 67 ties the tournament record for low 18 holes and best final round score, matching the five-under par score posted by Marie-Pierre Bernier of Rollins College in the 2007 event.

No. 11 West Florida finished third with 608, while 17th-ranked Armstrong placed fourth with 613. SCAD, the top-ranked team in NAIA, rounded out the top-five after shooting 621. UNC Pembroke (#21 in NCAA II) and Lander tied for sixth place with 623, followed by Florida Southern (#8 in NCAA II) who finished eighth with 626. Carson-Newman was ninth with 637, followed by Montevallo (643), Limestone (648), Newberry (650), Wingate (652), Coker (655), Lincoln Memorial (656), Tusculum (666), Columbus State (671) and Belmont Abbey (744).

Joining Molinaro and Larsson on this year's All-Tournament Team are Ashlii Thompson (UNC Pembroke), Nicky Ferre (Barry Univ.) and Lily Kent (West Florida).

Tusculum senior Sara Howard carded the best round of the day for the host Pioneers as she posted a 78 to finish with a two-day total of 163. Howard ties junior teammate Alec Cunningham with 80-83=163 for 49th place. Sophomore Calley Lawson shot 79-88=167 to tie for 61st, while freshman Taylor Lambertsen (90-83=173, T77) and sophomore Kelly Horrell (100-88=188, 87th) rounded out the scoring for the Pioneers.

Tusculum returns to action Feb. 24-25 for the TSYS Collegiate Classic in Columbus, Ga.
