Tusculum women in 12th after day one of Flagler Fall Slam

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team posted an opening round 351 and is in 12th place following day one action of the 2013 Flagler Fall Slam. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being played at the par-72, 5,778-yard Marsh Creek Country Club.

This year's tournament field includes five programs ranked in the NCAA Division II top-25.

Third-ranked Barry leads with 298, five shots ahead of host Flagler as the 11th-ranked Saints carded a 303 on Monday. No. 15 Armstrong is third after its 308. Seminole State is fourth with 313, followed by No. 6 Saint Leo (314), No. 13 West Florida (316), Limestone (317), Tampa (321), Mount Olive (323), Carson-Newman (333), Anderson (337), Tusculum, Catawba (357) and Eckerd (369).

Tusculum senior Sara Howard shot 85 for the top individual score for the Pioneers. Howard is tied for 49th place on the individual leader-board. Sophomore Calley Lawis is tied for 52nd place following an 86, while the TC trio of Alec Cunningham, Kelly Horrell and Taylor Lambertsen are tied for 66th place at 90. Freshman Lindsay Butler, playing as an individual competitor is in 71st place with 94.

Barry's Maria Paola Fiorio and Kiley Mettler of Armstrong both fired a one-under par 71 and are tied for the opening day lead.

The final round will be contested on Tuesday.
