Tusculum women in 13th place at Rendleman Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team shot 335 and is in 13th place following first round action of the 2013 Patsy Rendleman Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is hosted by Catawba College and is being held at the par-72, 5,998-yard Country Club of Salisbury.

Senior Sara Howard and freshman Taylor Lambertsen each carded rounds of 80 and are tied for 21st place. Sophomores Calley Lawson and Kelly Horrell finished with rounds of 87 and 88, respectively, while junior Alec Cunningham is 79th following her 91 on Monday.

Wingate shot 311 and leads the 18-team tournament field by three shots over second place Newberry (314) and four shots over UNC Pembroke (317) and Erskine (317). Montevallo is fifth with 319, followed by Queens University of Charlotte (323), North Greenville (326), Anderson (327), Catawba (327), Lincoln Memorial (329), West Georgia (332), Coker (333), Tusculum, Converse (336), King (338), Belmont Abbey (343), Pfeiffer (344) and Lenoir-Rhyne (370).

Newberry's Marianna Monaco has the tournament lead with her even-par round of 72, two shots ahead of Erskine's Rima Antous and Leslie Long of Catawba.

The final round of the Rendleman Invitational will be played on Tuesday.
