SUNSET BEACH, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team posted an opening round 328 and is in 13th place at the 2013 Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at the 5,810-yard, par-72 Sea Trail Golf Resort.
Senior Sara Howard is leading the Pioneers with her first round tally of 79 and is tied for 31st place. Sophomore Kelly Horrell is tied for 38th with her 80, while freshman Alex Valeri posted an 84 and is tied for 56th place.
Junior Alec Cunningham carded an 85 and is tied for 61st place, while sophomore Calley Lawson shot 88 and is in 73rd. Rookie Taylor Lambertsen is tied for 38th place with her first round 80, playing as an individual competitor.
Nationally-ranked Saint Leo shot 290 and enjoys an 11-shot lead over second-place Limestone, who shot 301. Mount Olive is third with 305, while Erskine and West Alabama each carded 308 and are tied for fourth. Wingate and UNC Pembroke are tied for sixth with 310, followed by Barton (319), Pfeiffer (320), Lincoln Memorial (322), Coker (327), Emmanuel (327), Tusculum, Catawba (330), Belmont Abbey (338), Mars Hill (343), Lenoir-Rhyne (344) and Southern Wesleyan (349).
The final round of the 18-team tournament will be played on Tuesday
