SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team fired an opening day 330 and is in 13th place following first round action of the Smoky Mountain Intercollegiate. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at the 5,816-yard, par-72 Sevierville Golf Club - Highlands Course.

The Tusculum duo of Sara Howard and Alec Cunningham carded rounds of 78 and are tied for 25th place. Howard and Cunningham are still within five shots of the lead of 73 (+1), which is shared by first round leaders Camila Sevillano (West Florida), Aimee Paterson (West Florida) and Bernadette Little (Lee University).

TC freshman Taylor Lambertsen posted an 85 in her collegiate debut and is tied for 62nd place, while rookie teammate Alex Valerie is tied for 76th with an 89. Freshman Lindsay Butler posted a 96 and is tied for 87th.

Tusculum sophomore Calley Lawson, who is playing as an individual competitor, fired an 87 and is tied for 70th.

West Florida leads the team competition with 296 and is in first place. Saint Leo is second with 299, while Lee is third with 301. Limestone is fourth with 308, followed by Montevallo (312), Newberry (313), Lincoln Memorial (315) and Shorter (317). The trio of Wingate (321), Columbus State (321) and host Carson-Newman (321) are tied for ninth, followed by West Alabama (325), Tusculum, Catawba (331), Coker (335), Belmont Abbey (353) and Young Harris (377).

The final round of the 17-team tournament will be held on Tuesday.
