LAKELAND, Fla. --- Tusculum College's Emee Herbert finished tied for 37th place at the 2013 NCAA Division II Women's Golf South Region Championship.
Herbert, a sophomore from Johns Creek, Ga., carded a final round 81 to post a three-day score of 84-77-81=242, playing as an individual competitor.
Herbert's final round included one birdie, 11 pars, four bogeys and a pair of triple bogeys. She started Tuesday with a triple bogey on her first hole and was five over par after the fourth. The two-time All-South Atlantic Conference first team selection recorded four straight pars before a bogey on the ninth hole as she posted a 43 on her outward nine.
The 2013 SAC Player of the Year birdied the 10th hole and followed with four pars in a row. That run would end with a bogey on No. 15 and a triple bogey on No. 16. She would par her final two holes to post a 39 on the back side.
Lynn University won the South Region team championship, while Nova Southeastern (904) and Barry University (907) finished second and third respectively as the three school advance to the NCAA II National Championship, which will be held in Daytona Beach, Fla. Also advancing to the national championship as individual competitors are region medalist Annie Dulman of Rollins College (217), Teresa Hernani of Lander (225) and Kristen Sammarco of Armstrong (227). Sammarco won in a three-way playoff for the final individual spot to advance to nationals.
Herbert wraps up a solid sophomore campaign with the Pioneers as she finished with a 76.95 scoring average, the second lowest stroke average in school history and just off the school record 76.71 average she posted last year. Her 76.81 career average is currently the lowest in Tusculum history and the second lowest in the SAC record book.
