LAKELAND, Fla. --- Tusculum College's Emee Herbert carded an opening round 84 and is tied for 42nd place after day one action of the 2013 NCAA Division II South Region Women's Golf Championship.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament is being played at the par-72, 6,149-yard Lone Palm Golf Club and hosted by Florida Southern College.
Herbert, a sophomore from Johns Creek, Ga., recorded eight pars, nine bogeys and a triple-bogey on her second hole of the day. The two-time All-South Atlantic Conference first team honoree is playing as an individual competitor in the 49-player field
Armstrong's Kristen Sammarco posted a two-under par 70 to take the first round lead on Sunday.
Herbert will tee off at 8 a.m. when the second round begins on Monday.
