KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. --- The Lynn women's golf team placed three golfers in the top-10 as the sixth-ranked Fighting Knights repeated as champions of the 11th-annual Tusculum/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate.

Lynn posted a two-day score of 295-297=592 to win the team championship by 19 strokes over runner-up and 18th-ranked UNC Pembroke (309-302=611).

Lynn sophomore Samantha Smolen won medalist honors with 69-73=142, five shots ahead of teammate Ellen Chambers (74-73=147). Three players finished third with 148 to round out the All-Tournament Team, including Lander's Teresa Caballer Hernani and the UNC Pembroke duo of Meghan Moore and Shauna Walor.

Wingate's Johanna Neumann finished sixth with 74-75=149, Jenna Birch of Armstrong placed seventh with 74-76=150, while five players tied for eighth place with 151.

No. 20 West Florida placed third with 614, while third-ranked Barry finished fourth with 617. Savannah College of Art and Design, the second-ranked team in NAIA, shot 624 to finish fifth.

No. 5 Florida Southern finished sixth with 625, followed by Armstrong (629), No. 19 Southwestern Oklahoma State (631), No. 15 Newberry (632), Lander (634), Wingate (642), Columbus State (645), Lincoln Memorial (647), West Georgia (654), host Tusculum (663), Belmont Abbey (675), Coker (692) and Barton (704).

The Fighting Knights become only the second team in the 11-year history of the event to defend its title, joining Florida Southern who claimed back-to-back championships in 2008 and 2009.

Tusculum sophomore Emee Herbert posted 77-80=157 to claim sole possession of 28th place. Junior Sara Howard carded back-to-back rounds of 83 to finish 58th, while rookie Calley Lawson tallied 85-85=170 to finish 70th. Sophomore Alec Cunningham shot an 81, improving by 11 strokes over yesterday's score to finish 77th at 92-81=173. Senior Jillian Corum also posted an 11-shot improvement with an 82 on Sunday to finish with 175 (79th).

The Pioneers return to action Feb. 16-17 when they host the inaugural Pioneer Classic at Nolichucky View Golf Club in Greeneville.
