BLOOMINGTON, Ill. --- Tusculum College Jillian
Corum leads the nation in par 5 scoring according to the latest
Golfstat NCAA Division II statistics. The Pioneers, which are
ranked 21st in the Golfstat head-to-head standings, are listed six
times in this week's statistics, while Corum is mentioned three
times.
Corum, a Knoxville, Tenn. junior, is averaging 4.92 strokes on par
5 holes this season, which is the lost average in the country. She
is also 10th in nation in subpar strokes per round (2.19) and 18th
in birdies (33).
Corum posted a three-under par 70-71=141 to capture medalist honors at the Agnes McAmis Memorial Invitational earlier this week at Link Hills Country Club, her fourth career victory. Her 141 was a new 36-hole record at Tusculum, as she lowers her seasonal stroke average to 77.61 which is second on the team, behind freshman Emee Herbert (Johns Creek, Ga.) with 77.11. Herbert and Corum's scoring averages are the two lowest in school history.
As a team, Tusculum is fourth in the nation in subpar strokes per round (1.63), seventh in par 5 scoring (5.26), nine in birdies (128), 19th in team scoring average (79.74), 19th in par 4 scoring (4.51) and 20th in score versus par (+7.74).
Tusculum captured the McAmis Memorial with a school, tournament and South Atlantic Conference record 291-302=593. It was Tusculum's fourth McAmis Memorial title and second team victory this season. The Pioneers return to action April 16-17 as they compete at the Food Lion SAC Championship in Conover, N.C.
