CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team carded a final round 319 to finish with a two-day 643 to place fourth at the 12th annual J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate. The 17-team, 36-hole tournament was held at the par 72, 5,823-yard Olde Sycamore Golf Plantation.

Tusculum's 319 was the second lowest round on Tuesday, only bested by tournament winner Barry, who won the team title with a 307-318=625, 14 strokes ahead of Columbus State (639). Tusculum's strong finish helped leap-frog the Pioneers three spots up the leader board.

Tusculum freshman Emee Herbert led the charge by finishing tied for seventh place with 155, including Tuesday's 76. Aly Pugh tied for 14th place with 78-81=159, while Jillian Corum posted 84-78=162 to tie for 21st. Sara Howard finished 43rd with 83-84=167, while Katie Doane tallied an 89-88=177 to place 71st. Tusculum rookie Alec Cunningham, playing as an individual competitor, tied for 48th place with her 85-84=169.

Herbert's 155 was just three shots off the pace set by tournament medalist Meghan Moore of UNC Pembroke, as she carded back-to-back rounds of 76 to edge Barry's Daniela Murray by one stroke (74-79=153).

Tusculum's fourth place finish marks the seventh top-five performance by the Pioneers this year and sixth top-four showing.

Queens University of Charlotte finished third with 640, followed by Tusculum, Carson-Newman (648), Flagler (654), Florida Tech (657), Armstrong (657), Lincoln Memorial (658), Wingate (658), Lenoir-Rhyne (666), Anderson (668), UNC Pembroke (668), Catawba (683), Coker (696), King (714) and Belmont Abbey (724).

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday as they take on Lincoln Memorial at the Tusculum/LMU Match Play at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. Tusculum returns to tournament play next Monday and Tuesday when it hosts the 15th annual Agnes McAmis Memorial at Link Hills Country Club.
