SUNSET BEACH, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team fired a two-day score of 670 and finished seventh at the Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate held this week at the Sea Trail Golf Resort.

The Pioneers posted a final round 337 on Tuesday, led by freshman Sara Howard, who shot 79-84=163 to tie for 15th place in the individual competition. Jillian Corum finished 24th with 80-86=166, while Adriana tied for 35th with 87-83=170. Emily Palenkas fired 87-84=171 to tie for 39th, while Aly Pugh finished 51st with 177. Katie Doane, playing as an individual competitor, fired back-to-back rounds of 85 to shoot 170 to tie for 35th. Tusculum Haley Rye, who also played as an individual, posted an 81 on Tuesday.

Tarleton State won the team title with 614, 19 shots better than second place UNC Pembroke (633). Lincoln Memorial finished third with 653, followed by Catawba (658), Carson-Newman (665), Wingate (669), Tusculum, Anderson (671), Lenoir-Rhyne (679), Mount Olive (692), Limestone (702), Erskine (713), North Greenville (720), St. Andrews (720), Coker (752), Brevard (837) and Mars Hill (839) to round out the scoring for the 17-team tournament field.

Carla Cooper of Tarleton State captured medalist honors with 71-75=146.

Tusculum returns to action Oct. 18-19 as the Pioneers compete at the Patsy Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, N.C.
