SUNSET BEACH, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team posted an opening round 333 and is in sixth place at the Lenoir-Rhyne/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate held this week at the Sea Trail Golf Resort.

Tusculum rookie Sara Howard is in ninth place at 79, including an even-par 36 on her inward nine and is eight shots behind first round leader Carla Cooper of Tarleton State. TC sophomore Jillian Corum is tied for 10th with 80, while seniors Adriana Vizcarrondo and Emily Palenkas are tied for 46th with 87. Aly Pugh posted a 90 and is tied for 55th place, while junior Katie Doane, playing as individual competitor, is tied for 36th with 85.

Tarleton State has the opening day lead on the par 72, 5,988-yard layout with 306, 10 shots better than second place UNC Pembroke (316). Lincoln Memorial is third with 324, followed by Catawba (325), Anderson (331), Tusculum, Wingate (336), Carson-Newman (336), Mount Olive (343), Lenoir-Rhyne (344), Limestone (353), Erskine (353), North Greenville (354), St. Andrews Presbyterian (365), Coker (366), Brevard (419) and Mars Hill (422).

The final round will begin on Tuesday morning.
