CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. --- Three Tusculum College
women's golfers have been named to the 2009-2010 National Golf
Coaches Association Division II All-American Scholar Team.
Selected from Tusculum were Jillian Corum, Katie Doane and Adriana
Vizcarrondo.
Criteria for the NGCA All-American Scholar Team includes having a
minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and competing in at
least 66 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive
rounds during the year.
Corum, a rising sophomore from Knoxville, Tenn., led the Pioneers with her 83.10 stroke average and posted six top 25 finishes in her rookie season. Corum's scoring average was the ninth lowest in school history and the lowest ever by a Tusculum freshman as she recorded a pair of top 10 performances, including medalist honors at the Women's Independent Collegiate in Etowah, N.C. The Fulton High School graduate is a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll and Dean's List with a 3.77 GPA.
Doane, a rising junior from Sevierville, Tenn., returns to the NGCA All-America Scholar Team for a second straight year. She finished third on the team with her 83.85 scoring average as she played in eight tournaments and tallied three top 25 performances. She garnered runner-up honors at the Anderson Invitational and followed with a 10th-place showing at the Women's Independent Collegiate. The Pigeon Forge High School graduate was named to the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List. She has a 3.78 GPA while majoring in Education.
Vizcarrondo, a rising senior from Anaco, Venezuela, also makes her second straight appearance on the NGCA All-America Scholar Team. She was seventh on the team with her 88.79 scoring average as she played in seven of Tusculum's 10 events. Vizcarrondo accounted for three top 30 outings, including a 24th place finish at the SAC Championship. She has a 3.66 GPA while majoring in Business Management. She is a member of the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List.
Tusculum accounted for nearly half of the seven honorees representing the South Atlantic Conference on the Scholar Team.
Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of 10 colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
