HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team carded a two-day 731 to finish 11th at the 2010 Newberry College Invitational, held this week at Moss Creek Golf Course.

Senior Mary Ann Vizcarrondo led the Pioneers shooting 88-86=174 to tie for 29th place.

Host Newberry won the tournament by nine shots, posting 330-331=661. Carson-Newman finished second with 670, while Armstrong Atlantic carded 684 to place third. Catawba shot 684 to finish fourth, followed by UNC Pembroke (690), Wingate (692), Florida Tech (707), Montevallo (711), Anderson (716), Lincoln Memorial (729), Tusculum, Queens (736), Mount Olive (739), Pfeiffer (753), Columbus State (782) and Mars Hill (797).

Tusculum freshman Jillian Corum tied for 41st with 90-90=180, while junior Emily Palenkas shot 89-99=188 to for 55th. Adriana Vizcarrondo and Haley Rye tied for 62nd with identical tournament performances of 98-95=193.

Tusculum will be at the J. Ralph Hargett Intercollegiate, Mar. 29-30 for its next action.
