MARYVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College
Women's golf team fired an opening round 322 and is in third place
at the Elite Linen Service Inc. Maryville College Invitational. The
tournament is being held this weekend at Lambert Acres Golf
Club.
Rookie Jillian Corum (Knoxville, Tenn.) and
sophomore Katie Doane (Sevierville, Tenn.) each
posted rounds of 79, while junior Emily Palenkas
posted an 80 for the Maryville, Tenn. native. Aly
Pugh (Harrisburg, Pa.) carded an 84, while freshman
Haley Rye (Cumberland City, Tenn.) shot 86 in her
collegiate debut.
Carson-Newman College holds the first round lead with 303, led by
individual leader Sarah Jane Sinard with her opening 69. Lincoln
Memorial University is second with 304, followed by Tusculum (322),
Mars Hill College, Tennessee Wesleyan and host Maryville.
The final round of the 36-hole tournament will be played on
Saturday.
