CORAL GABLES, Fla. --- Three Tusculum College
student-athletes have been named to the 2008-09 National Golf
Coaches Association Division II All-America Scholar Team announced
officials Wednesday. Selected from Tusculum were Susanne
Sisco, Adriana Vizcarrondo and
Katie Doane.
Criteria for the NGCA All-American Scholar Team includes having
minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and competing in at
least 66 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive
rounds during the year.
Sisco, a senior from Fairfield, Ohio, earns this honor for a second
straight season. She was a four-year letter-winner on the women's
golf team. This past season, she posted an 87.70 stroke average,
which was fourth best on the team. She recorded four top 25
finishes, including a 17th place showing at the South Atlantic
Conference Championship. This past May, she was the inaugural
recipient of the "Bob Dibble Spirit of the Game Award. The
"Bob Dibble Spirit of the Game Award", named in
honor of the long-time Tusculum golf coach, recognizes the South
Atlantic Conference women's golf team member that demonstrates a
genuine love of the game, outstanding character, leadership and
places team before self. This award is selected by the league's
women's golf coaches. Sisco is a member of the SAC Commissioner's
Honor Roll and the Tusculum Athletic Director's Honor Roll. She has
a 3.53 GPA while majoring in Secondary Math Education.
Vizcarrondo, a sophomore from Anaco, Venezuela, finished third on
the team with her 87.61 scoring average. She played in nine of
Tusculum's 10 events where she recorded four top 25 finishes,
including 11th at the Aramark Collegiate. She has a 3.62 GPA, while
majoring in Business Management and is a member of the SAC
Commissioner's Honor and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll.
Doane, a freshman from Sevierville, Tenn., finished fifth on the
team with her 87.70 scoring average as she played in all 10
tournaments in where she tallied four top 25 showings. Her best
outing came at the Aramark Collegiate as he finished eighth. The
Pigeon Forge High School product also tied for 17th at the SAC
Championship. She was named to the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll
and the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, accounting for a 3.74 GPA,
majoring in Education.
Tusculum accounted for half of the six honorees representing the
South Atlantic Conference.
Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated
with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member
of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine
colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South
Carolina.
