ETOWAH, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team
posted a final round 337 to finish fourth with 1011 at the 2009
Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship, held this week at
the Etowah Valley Country Club & Golf Resort.
Tusculum sophomore Emily Palenkas tied for eighth
place with her 80-83-83=246 during the 54-hole tournament. Palenkas
earned a spot on the SAC All-Tournament Second Team, marking the
second straight year the Maryville, Tenn. Product has earned SAC
All-Tournament recognition.
Carson-Newman College won the team event as the Lady Eagles led
wire-to-wire, carding a three-round 968. Wingate University
finished second with 983, followed by Catawba College (999),
Tusculum, Newberry College (1020), Lenoir-Rhyne University (1022),
Lincoln Memorial University (1032), Mars Hill College (1107) and
Brevard College (1229).
Senior Susanne Sisco, playing in her final
collegiate tournament, tied for 17th with 254. Sophomore
Adriana Vizcarrondo tied for 22nd with 257, while
her sister, Mary Ann Vizcarrondo posted a 259.
Senior Amber Ladner, who was also playing in her
collegiate finale, placed 25th with 261. Rookie Katie
Doane, who was playing as in individual competitor, shot
268 to finish 28th.
