FINAL ROUND OF McAMIS MEMORIAL CANCELLED, BELMONT ABBEY WINS SECOND STRAIGHT TITLE

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The final round of the 2009 Agnes McAmis Memorial Women's Golf Invitational has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The Link Hills Country Club received a dusting of snow and rain overnight, accompanied with freezing temperatures has eliminated the final round of the 36-hole tournament.

Belmont Abbey College wins their second straight McAmis Memorial title with its team total 310 as the Crusaders placed four players in the top 10.

The Crusaders won by 15 shots over Wingate University (325) and 17 over third place Carson-Newman College (327). UNC Pembroke finished fourth with 331, followed by Catawba College (336), Queens University of Charlotte (337), Anderson University (340), University of Montevallo (341), Spartanburg Methodist College (345) and host Tusculum College (347) to round out the top 10. Mars Hill College finished 11th with 351, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne University (353), Presbyterian College (357), Erskine College (367), Lincoln Memorial University (373), Brevard College (389), Tiffin University (392), Concord University (393) and Limestone College (424).

ETSU's Mayte Vizcarrondo, playing as an individual, captured medalist honors with a one-over par 73. Catawba's Kelsey Babos finished one shot out of the lead with 74, while Belmont Abbey's Carley Warrington placed third with 75. Four players tied for fourth place with 77 including Ashley Denton (Wingate), Sarah Jane Sinard (Carson-Newman), Michele Low (Belmont Abbey) and Jessica Tarbet (Carson-Newman). Vizcarrrondo, Babos and Warrington earned spots on the All-Tournament Team. Denton and Low also earned a spot on the All-Tournament team via a scorecard playoff.

Sofia Svensson (Concord), Rita Kim (Belmont Abbey) and Moira Bryers (Belmont Abbey) each shot 79 and finished tied for eighth place to round out the top 10.

Tusculum's Mary Ann Vizcarrondo and Susanne Sisco tied for 35th place, each carding an 86. Emily Palenkas shot an 87, tying for 43rd, while Amber Ladner posted an 88 and tied for 50th. Katie Doane rounded out the scoring for Tusculum with an 89 (T55th). Three Pioneers played as individual competitors including Adriana Vizcarrondo (89 - T55th), Aly Pugh (93 - T73rd) and Tasha Teague (115 - 92nd).
