CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- The Tusculum College women's golf team posted an opening round 344 and is in eighth place at the 2009 Ralph Hargett Intercollegiate, held this week at the Olde Sycamore Golf Club. Leading the charge for Tusculum is Mary Ann Vizcarrondo, who is tied for 13th place with an opening round 82.

Pfeiffer leads the team competition with 322, six shots ahead of second place Newberry. Host Wingate is third with 329, followed by UNC Pembroke (332), Catawba (336), Queens University of Charlotte (340), Lenoir-Rhyne (340), Tusculum, Carson-Newman (345), Mount Olive (348), Lincoln Memorial (360) and The Citadel (363).

TC's Emily Palenkas is tied for 17th with 93, while Susanne Sisco tallied 87 and is tied for 33rd place. Katie Doane carded an opening 92 and is tied for 44th, while Amber Ladner is tied for 54th with 96. Adriana Vizcarrondo shot 92 playing as an individual competitor (T44th).

The final round on the par 72, 5,815-yard layout will be held on Tuesday.
