Tusculum bowlers in ninth after day one of Stallings Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- The Tusculum University women's bowling team is in ninth place after the opening day of the 2023 Stalling Invitational at AMF All-Star Lanes.

The Pioneers went 2-3 on the day and finished with a total pinfall of 4,208.

Vanderbilt leads the 12-team field with 4,995 pins and have a 230-pin lead over second place Sam Houston State and are 282 pins clear of host North Carolina A&T.

The Pioneers opened the tournament against No. 2 Vanderbilt where the Commodores came away with a 1000-842 win. Tusculum followed with a 929-874 loss to Florida A&M.

TU faced its second ranked opponent of the day in ninth-ranked Sam Houston State as the Bearcats won 970-822.

The Pioneers bounced back with a pair of wins to close out the day. Tusculum defeated Howard 865-802 and followed with a two-pin victory over Belmont Abbey (805-803).
