TU bowlers wrap up day two of Railsplitter Classic

HARROGATE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University women's bowling team is in third place after day two of the Railsplitter Classic.  The three-day tournament is being held at Hillcrest Lanes and hosted by Lincoln Memorial University.

The Pioneers posted a total pinfall of 4,557 pins in Saturday's five traditional scored games to give the Black & Orange a two-day total of 9,132.

Tusculum (29-16) went 1-3 on Saturday, opening with a 961-746 victory over Belmont Abbey before dropping a 966-828 loss to UAB. TU was edged by 22nd-ranked LMU by a slim three-pin margin, 957-953. Mercyhurst just got past the Black & Orange with a 933-902 win in the fourth game of the day. TU received a bye in the final bowl of the afternoon as the Pioneers posted a team total 913.

Samantha England bowled a five-game traditional total of 968 which was eighth individually. Alexa Tieto was 11th with her 954 total which included a 237 in her third game of the day. Erin Burkart was 13th with 916, while Allison Robbins posted a five-game total 911 which was 14th-best. Shayna Long finished 17th with an 808 total to round out the scoring for the Pioneers.

LMU's Olivia Lampkin was the individual champion as she posted a five-game tally of 1,071 pins.

The tournament will wrap-up on Saturday with pool play to determine the tournament winner.
