DYER, Ind. --- The Tusculum University women's bowling went a perfect 4-0 on the day and are in second place after day one of the Valpo Bowling Classic.
With the 4-0 start the Pioneers improve their season record to an impressive 13-4.
Tusculum finished the day with 4,532 total pins in their five Baker scored contests and trail 17th-ranked and first day leader Central Missouri by 325 pins. Lewis is third with 4,492, followed by host Valparaiso (4394), 24th-ranked Marian (4384), Kentucky Wesleyan (4376), Drury (4353), No. 18 Lincoln Memorial (4336), Mercyhurst (4198), Upper Iowa (4017), Elmhurst (3896), Alabama A&M (3760), North Central (3744), Dominican, Ill. (3423) and Spalding (3307).
Tusculum opened the day with an 861-846 victory over Upper Iowa and followed with a 941-857 triumph over Mercyhurst. TU posted only the third 1,000-pin game of the day with a 1,002-620 victory over Spalding University. The Pioneers edged Drury 875-861 to remain undefeated on the afternoon. TU had a bye in its fifth game where the Pioneers bowled a team score of 853.
Tusculum will play five traditional scored games on Saturday as the Pioneers will face Kentucky Wesleyan, LMU, Dominican, North Central and close out with nationally-ranked Marian.
The tournament will conclude on Sunday with three Baker bracket games.
