Taya Gibson joined the Tusculum University women's basketball program as a graduate assistant coach for the 2023-24 season.
Gibson came to Tusculum after playing the previous two seasons at Georgia Southern University. She averaged 9.5 points and 5.9 rebounds and shot 50.7 percent from the field as a senior in 2022-23, while compiling three double-doubles in 22 starts. As a junior, Gibson averaged 8.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game and led the Sun Belt Conference in field-goal percentage at 55.2 percent.
Prior to Georgia Southern, the Rome, Georgia native played two seasons at Columbus State University, earning Peach Belt Conference All-Tournament honors in 2019. Gibson averaged 12.7 points and 7.0 rebounds as a sophomore.
Gibson earned a bachelor of science degree in sport management from Georgia Southern in May, 2023 and an associate of arts degree in interdisciplinary studies from East Georgia State College in 2020.
