Pioneers get season-bests from Chesterfield, Shim in home loss to Wasps

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Emory & Henry's Breanna Yarber posted a double-double of 33 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Wasps to an 89-75 South Atlantic Conference women's basketball win at Tusculum Thursday afternoon at Pioneer Arena.

Emory & Henry (8-8, 3-5 SAC) completes the season sweep over the Pioneers (3-11, 1-7 SAC) who suffer their eighth straight setback.

Yarber posts her second 30-point game against Tusculum in the last two weeks following a school-record 38-point performance at Emory on Jan. 3rd.

Yarber went 15-for-24 from the floor while also posting three blocked shots, two assists and four steals in her 36 minutes on the floor.

The Pioneers got season-high performances from Ni'Kiah Chesterfield and Monique Shim who contributed 19 and 18 points, respectively. Chesterfield went 9-for-12 from the field and grabbed a season-best eight rebounds. Shim connected on four 3-pointers while hauling in six rebounds and three steals.

TU's Faith Silva accounted for 12 points on her four triples to go along with a career-best six assists. Lexi Patty came close to recording a triple-double for the Pioneers as she finished with eight points, eight rebounds and a career-high eight assists.

The Wasps went 33-of-69 from the field for 48 percent, connected on nine 3-pointers and shot a sizzling 14-of-15 from the free throw line (93%).

Tusculum ended the contest shooting 39 percent as TU recorded a season-best 24 assists on its 27 made field goals. The Pioneers out-rebounded the Wasps by a 45-37 margin, but E&H forced 20 turnovers resulting in 26 points.

The Pioneers return to action Saturday when they host No. 8/9 Catawba College for a 2 p.m. contest.
