Tusculum College sophomore forward Kristen McMillion has been
named honorable mention All-South Atlantic Conference in Women's
basketball for the 2013-14 season, the conference office announced
Wednesday.
McMillion was recognized by the league's 12 head coaches after a
season in which she led the SAC and ranks in the top 10 nationally
in rebounding with an average of 11.9 per game. The 6-footer also
averaged 8.0 points per game and was the only player in the
conference to rank in the top 10 in both blocks per game (1.1, 7th)
and steals per game (2.0, 8th).
McMillion thrived on the boards for the Pioneers, reaching double
figures 19 times in 26 games including a stretch of eight games in
a row at midseason. She finished the season with a flourish,
posting back-to-back games with more than 20 rebounds in wins over
Lincoln Memorial (21) and Mars Hill (23). Her 23 rebounds against
Mars Hill were one shy of a school record and tied for the 6th-best
single-game total in SAC history.
The Fayetteville, N.C. native led the SAC with 126 offensive
rebounds and was second in the league with 183 defensive boards.
She averaged 31.7 minutes per game to rank 15th in the conference
and shot 45 percent from the field. McMillion finished the season
with eight double-doubles for the Pioneers, including a career high
of 19 points set against Anderson on Feb. 5 and matched in the
season finale against Coker on March 1.
The Pioneers finished the 2013-14 season with an 8-18 record and in
ninth place in the SAC with an 8-14 league record. Tusculum won
seven of its final 11 games to come one win shy of earning a spot
in this week's Food Lion SAC Tournament.

after leading the Bears to a share of the SAC regular-season
