Tusculum College matched a season high with 15 three-pointers, including eight from Kendal Baxter, and rolled to an 81-46 rout of Wingate University Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action at Pioneer Arena.

Baxter finished with a game-high 24 points and Nequoiah Anderson came off the bench to score a career-best 20 points for the Pioneers (13-7, 7-5 SAC), who went 15-for-26 from beyond the arc (57.7 percent) as a team and shot 48.4 percent overall to cruise to their third straight victory.

Meanwhile, the Pioneer defense limited the Bulldogs (10-12, 4-8 SAC) to just 29.3 percent shooting in the game and scored 20 points off 19 Wingate turnovers. Morgan McGee led the Bulldogs with 18 points and nine rebounds and Janitsha Williams added 12 points in the loss.

Baxter went 3-for-5 from three-point range in the first half and 5-for-7 in the second half for the Pioneers, who shot 10-for-16 from long range in the first half en route to a 46-19 halftime lead. Tusculum also made 15 three-pointers in a 69-55 win over then fourth-ranked Rollins on Nov. 23.

Anderson's 20 points easily surpassed her previous career high of 13 points set on Jan. 23 against Lenoir-Rhyne. She went 8-for-11 from the field, including a pair of three-pointers, and was 2-for-3 from the line in 19 minutes of playing time.

Wingate took its only lead of the game on a McGee layup shortly after the opening tip, but a layup by April McCann and a three-pointer by Baxter pushed Tusculum out to a quick 5-2 lead after a minute. The Pioneers sank seven of their first eight field-goal attempts, including 4-for-5 from three-point range, on their way to an 18-8 lead after 5 1/2 minutes.

A 15-2 run gave Tusculum a 20-point lead at 30-10 with 9:09 left in the first half, following back-to-back three-pointers by Baxter and Blakeley Burleson. A 16-2 run later in the half that featured eight points from Anderson saw the Pioneer lead expand to 30 at 46-16 with just over a minute left in the first half.

Tusculum went to halftime with a 46-19 lead after shooting 53.1 percent (17-for-32) from the field. Anderson led all players with 13 points in the first half while Burleson and Baxter had nine points apiece. Williams paced the Bulldogs with seven points, but Wingate was just 7-for-31 (22.6 percent) from the field in the opening half.

Wingate was able to work the Tusculum lead back down to 20 at 51-31 following a layup by Chantal Dunbar with 16:10 remaining, but the Pioneers responded with a 14-3 run to go ahead 65-34 on a steal and layup by McCann with nine minutes to go. Tusculum took its largest lead of the game at 81-44 on a short jumper by Kiara Baker with 17 seconds left before Wingate's Jecia Anderson connected as time expired to set the final score.

Breaira Barksdale finished with nine points and eight assists for the Pioneers, while McCann had nine points and a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with four assists and three steals. Burleson added nine points and a pair of steals in 27 minutes off the Tusculum bench, and Jama Hammontree battled through foul trouble to contribute a pair of three-pointers and score six points in the contest.

Tusculum was outrebounded by Wingate 40-38 in the game, but had 19 assists against 13 turnovers as a team. The Pioneers had 20 fast-break points and their bench outscored the Bulldog reserves by a 31-4 margin.

The Pioneers will be on the road Wednesday night for a matchup with SAC co-leader Anderson. Game time will be 6 p.m. from the Abney Athletic Center.
