The Tusculum College Women's basketball team continues to appear
in the latest NCAA Division II Women's basketball statistical
report, through games of Sunday, Feb. 19.
Junior guard Kendal Baxter remained second in the nation in
free-throw percentage and moved up to a tie for ninth in
three-point field goals per game, and senior forward Linda
Aughburns is tied for 37th in rebound average in this week's
report.
Baxter is shooting 92.5 percent (74-for-80) at the free-throw line,
and trails only Peyton Adamson of Tarleton State (92.6 percent,
75-for-81) in this week's rankings. Baxter has made 28 consecutive
free throws and holds the Tusculum career record for free-throw
percentage at 89.1 percent (147-for-165).
In three-pointers per game, Baxter is tied for ninth at 2.96
three-pointers per contest, having made 71 threes in 24 games to
lead the SAC. Jasmine Judge of Lander continues to lead Division II
with 4.0 three-pointers per game (91 in 23 games).
Aughburns is tied for 37th in rebounds per game at 9.6 (230 in 24
games), including nine games of 10 rebounds or more. Aughburns is
third in the SAC in rebounds per game, behind Dana Hicks of Catawba
(6th nationally, 12.0 per game) and MaRanda Boddie of Lincoln
Memorial (32nd, 9.7).
As a team, the Pioneers are 31st in rebound margin with a
differential of +6.2 rebounds per game, 36th in three-pointers made
per game at 6.6 per game and 40th in three-point field-goal
percentage defense at 27.6.
The Pioneers (16-8 overall, 10-6 SAC) host Lenoir-Rhyne in a
critical South Atlantic Conference game Wednesday night at 6:00
p.m. at Pioneer Arena. Tusculum is one game behind SAC tri-leaders
Lenoir-Rhyne, Wingate and Catawba with two regular-season games
remaining in its quest to repeat as SAC regular-season
champions.
