GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College
women's basketball team will host its annual WBCA "Play 4Kay"
Night, for the Pioneers' home game tonight (Feb. 15) against
Anderson University. The game will tip-off at 6 p.m. at Pioneer
Arena.
Tusculum women's basketball players, coaches and support staff will
be wearing pink on game day to promote awareness of this dreaded
disease. Half of all gate proceeds for tonight's women's game will
be donated to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. Additional donations
will also be collected throughout the evening's festivities.
The mission of the initiative, which began in 2007, is to develop a nation of coaches raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
"Play 4Kay" is named after legendary coach Kay Yow, who fought a courageous and very public battle against breast cancer to build a platform dedicated to improving and extending the lives of cancer patients. After three recurrences of the disease, Coach Yow passed away on January 24, 2009.
The Tusculum College Bookstore will also be donating 10 percent of its pink apparel sales today to this worthy cause. The Bookstore is located in the Niswonger Student Commons, adjacent to Pioneer Arena and will be open 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
