Pioneers appear in NCAA statistical rankings
INDIANAPOLIS ---

The Tusculum College Women's basketball team continues to be ranked in the latest NCAA Division II Women's basketball statistical report, through games of Sunday, Jan. 29.

Junior guard Kendal Baxter is fifth in the nation in free-throw percentage and is tied for ninth in three-point field goals per game, and senior forward Linda Aughburns is 30th in rebound average in this week's report.

Baxter is shooting 90.5 percent (57-for-63) at the free-throw line, a total that leads the South Atlanti Conference and is tops among all Southeast Region players. She trails Rachel Gostomski of Davis & Elkins (93.9), Heather Robben of Emporia State (93.3), Emily Bayly of Le Moyne (92.5) and Maylinn Smith of Grand Canyon (92.4) in the rankings.

In three-pointers per game, Baxter is tied for ninth with Amberly O'Dell of Lincoln Memorial at 3.0 three-pointers per contest. Baxter has connected on 54 three-pointers in 18 games, trailing Jasmine Judge of Lander who leads Division II with 4.1 three-pointers per game (70 in 17 games).

Aughburns is ranked 30th in rebounds per contest (177 in 18 games), including six games of 10 rebounds or more. Aughburns is third in the SAC in rebounds per game, behind Dana Hicks of Catawba (5th nationally, 11.8 per game) and MaRanda Boddie of LMU (16th, 10.8).

Senior forward Staci Hicks, who led Division II in field-goal percentage last week, has fallen below the minimum of five made field goals per game and is not included in this week's report. Hicks, who has shot 60.8 percent (87-for-143) from the field this season, would be ranked second behind Lauren Cochran of Lincoln Memorial (61.1 percent) if she qualified.

As a team, the Pioneers are 25th in rebound margin with a differential of +7.1 rebounds per game. Tusculum also ranks 29th in three-point field-goal percentage defense at 26.3 percent and is 41st in three-pointers made per game at 6.5 per game.

The Pioneers (13-5 overall, 7-3 SAC) return home after four consecutive road games, and will face Lincoln Memorial (9-9 overall, 4-6 SAC) Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Pioneer Arena.
