Pioneers receiving votes in USA Today/ESPN Poll

LILBURN, Ga. --- The Tusculum College women's basketball team, fresh off the program's first-ever Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championship, are receiving votes in this week's edition of the USA Today/ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

Tusculum (20-9) has won six straight games and 11 of its last 13 to post the program's third consecutive 20-win season, accomplishing the feat with a 67-55 win over Newberry College in the SAC Tournament Championship to punch its third straight ticket to the NCAA Tournament.

The Pioneers are one of seven teams that are listed in this week's poll and were selected to participate in this weekend's NCAA Division II Southeast Region Tournament.

Also ranked are Lander University (No. 11), Clayton State University (No. 19), Francis Marion University (No. 20), Carson-Newman College (No. 23) and Lenoir-Rhyne University (No. 24). Newberry is also receiving votes in addition to the Pioneers.

Tusculum returns to the court on Friday when the Pioneers travel to Greenwood, S.C. to participate in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Tournament, hosted by Lander University. The seventh-seeded Pioneers, who are making their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, will take on second-seeded No. 19 Clayton State University in the quarterfinal round at 2:30 p.m.
