Angol wins javelin, Stubbs sets hurdles record at Catamount Classic

CULLOWHEE, N.C. --- The Tusculum University men's and women's track and field team competed on the opening day of the Catamount Classic at Western Carolina University on Friday.

Shanee Angol won the women's javelin with an NCAA qualifying mark and Kenisha Stubbs set a school record in the women's 100 hurdles for the Pioneers, who received four top-10 finishes in the men's 200 meters during the opening day of the meet.

Competition will conclude Saturday starting at noon at the Catamount Athletic Complex.

WOMEN'S RECAP
Angol won the javelin on her first throw, posting a mark of 43.00 meters (141 feet, 1 inch) that is her second-best throw at Tusculum and ranks 21st in Division II this season.

Stubbs qualified for Saturday's finals in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.80 seconds, breaking her school record of 15.00 seconds set at the 2021 SAC Championship.

In the 200 meters, Destiny Lottie was the Pioneers' top finisher with a time of 26.20 seconds, while in the 1500 meters Emily Coddington had the third-best time of her career and finished 10th overall at 4:51.01.

MEN'S RECAP
The Pioneers had four top-10 finishers in the 200 meters, led by Jarvis Barber Jr. who ran 22.02 to place third overall. Marquel Pittman finished sixth in 22.17 seconds, with Devan Hart in eighth at 22.43 seconds and Zackary Nelson in ninth at 22.49 seconds.

In the 1500 meters, Antonio Aparicio finished 10th with a season-best time of 4:00.61, the fourth-fastest mark in program history. Ray Richardson was clocked in 4:12.00 to take fifth place on the program performance list in the event.

Amber Hogan posted her second-best throw of the season in the hammer throw, finishing 14th overall at 37.52 meters (123 feet, 1 inch), while Destini Wilson tied for the seventh-best jump in school history in the long jump at an even 5.00 meters (16 feet, 5 inches).
