ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum freshman Widchard Guervil has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 21, the SAC office announced Tuesday.

Guervil, a freshman from Fort Myers, Florida, won the 60 meters at the Wake Forest Invitational on Saturday. Guervil ran 6.95 seconds in preliminaries to earn the third seed in the finals, then ran 6.87 seconds to beat out runners from a field that included SAC rivals Wingate and Coker along with Division I runners from The Citadel, Davidson and USC Upstate. Guervil also ran in the 200 meters and won his heat with a time of 22.70 seconds, which left him in fourth place by a margin of five-thousands of a second behind the third-place finisher.

Earlier this season, Guervil ran a 6.86 in the 60-meter preliminaries at the ETSU Invitational, which is an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time and currently tied for 16th on the performance list.

Tusculum will compete at the Liberty Kickoff in Lynchburg, Virginia on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 26 and 27.
