JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. --- Freshman Widchard Guervil posted an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the 60 meters to highlight the first day of competition for the Tusculum men's and women's track & field teams at the ETSU Invitational on Friday.

Tusculum will resume competition on Saturday at 8 a.m. inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center. Track events scheduled for Saturday include the mile run and the 3,000 meter along with sprint finals and relays. Field events will include the men's and women's long jump and the men's shot put.

MEN
Guervil won his heat in the 60 meters with a time of 6.86 seconds, fourth-fastest among the 103 competitors in the event and better than the provisional qualifying time of 6.88 seconds. Guervil will compete in the finals on Saturday at 3:28 p.m.

Competitors meeting a provisional standard are placed on a descending-order list for each event. Once entrants who achieved automatic standards have been entered into the championships, the national committee will make selections from the list to fill the fields to their desired minimum field size of 16.

Yannick Rosalie placed fifth in the triple jump in a field of 27 athletes. He had his best jump on his initial attempt in preliminaries, leaping 14.03 meters (46 feet, 1/2 inch) to secure a spot in the finals. Rosalie had two successful attempts in the finals, nearly matching his prelim mark with a jump of 13.94 meters on his final try.

In the 5000 meters, Jackson Beason finished in 15th place with a time of 16:32.44.

WOMEN
Jayla Lewis finished in 35th place out of 85 entries in the 60 meters with a time of 8.15 seconds, while Briana McDonald was 37th in a time of 8.18 seconds.
